The Degwitz house built by Gustavo Wallis in 1938 and demolished in 1998
The Degwitz house was built in a particular moment in Venezuelan architecture. The oil industry was beginning to give fruit in the national economy ad this new income was reflected in the city.This new type of home broke the special scheme of the traditional house, it had a modern scheme. This was due to the technological advances of the time, with the introduction of functional elements as is the automobile, urban lifestyle changed and architecture must adapt to these changes. This is why the new neighborhoods where the perfect place for architects such as Manuel Mujica, Gustavo Wallis and Carlos Raúl Villanueva to practice on new architectural models.
