Rhythm & Acoustics

A few weeks ago I saw a presentation about rhythm and acoustics. I found it interesting but I forgot to write about it. It talked about the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, and the Sydney Opera House. The presentation showed how they were designed so the different elements used enhanced the acoustics of the place. The architect and engineers worked together so the building would work properly, sometimes there was even a third person in charge of the acoustics. I didn't know that there are so many materials that can be used to improve the sound in a place. There are also many ways to distribute sound and create different effects. I found it amazing that the Davies Symphony Hall has panels that can be lowered, lifted or tilted by a computer to accommodate the acoustics or to highlight a certain part of the orchestra.
